A super simple mobile phone with 4 memory
buttons only - ideal for those who need a mobile phone for security but
don't make many calls!
The 334 is a good sized mobile phone, not too small, fantastic for simply making and receiving calls. Dialling is extra easy thanks to 4 direct memory buttons and no keypad. This phone is great for an elderly relative or someone who struggles to use a conventional phone or to remember phone numbers.
Ideally the 334 should be set up for the user by a friend or relative. Because the 334 has no conventional keypad, programming requires a little patience and can be fiddly but is relatively straightforward and is well-explained in the instructions.
The 334 also has soft touch surfaces, keypad lock and a name index. The answer and hang up buttons are large, clear and easy to use, as are the 4 memories. This phone cannot send or receive SMS text messages (excepting emergency message, see below).
The
display is white on black and is clear and easy to read. Call volume is
adjusted by volume buttons on the side of the phone and the 334 has a
nice sound quality. It also includes some more conventional 'proper'
ringing sounds as well as more modern polyphonic tunes. There is also a
standard 2.5mm headset socket.
The
HandlePlus 334 has a Hearing Aid Compatibility rating of T3/M3 (see the
User Guides tab for more information about this). This means there is
still an element of interference with hearing aids. Some hearing aid
users will find the level of background noise acceptable when using the
phone directly with 'T' with their hearing aid - those who find the
background noise unsatisfactory can use an inductive earhook. We are
unable to give guidance; it is simply a matter of trial and personal
preference.
Hearing aid users (with a telecoil facility) have two alternative ways of using the HandlePlus 334 with their hearing aid:
Please note, our 'T-Link' inductive earhook will not work with this phone. See Associated Items on the right for compatible earhook.
The Doro HandlePlus 334 also has two emergency buttons. The SOS button on the front dials 999. The emergency button on the back is to alert friends or family. To make an emergency call, press and hold the key on the back - this will cause the phone to send your pre-programmed SOS emergency SMS text message to all numbers in the Emergency numbers list (max. 5). It will then dial the first number on the list. If the call isn't answered within 30 seconds, the next number is dialled. Dialling is repeated 3 times or until the call is answered. Note - the emergency call function can be turned off.
