Audiology

Action for Deafness provide a full NHS Audiology Service under contract with West Sussex PCT, to anyone over the age of 50 resident in West Sussex, available from our centres in Haywards Heath, Worthing and Steyning. We offer  an efficient, friendly and personalised service with patient journey times well within government targets.

Our audiologists provide comprehensive training for all new hearing aid users and patients can drop into any of our Resource Centres for follow up appointments or rehabilitation. We also provide hearing aid clinics county-wide for maintenance and advice.

Our Resource Centre staff can advise patients on a wide range of hearing services and products and all patients receive a personal service. Both our centres in Worthing and Haywards Heath are in convenient town centre locations with ample local parking.

Our highly trained team of audiologists have many years experience of NHS adult hearing loss rehabilitation. One of the most exciting recent developments in this field has been the introduction of Real Ear Measurements, whereby the output of a hearing aid is tailored precisely to the patient’s requirement by measuring the sound of the hearing aid near the patient’s ear drum. Another recent development, which has proved beneficial to many patients, is the use of open fit moulds. We do Real Ear Measurements and offer open fit moulds to all patients for whom this technology is appropriate.

As a charitable company, Action for Deafness is a not for profit organisation and all income is used solely for the benefit of Deaf and hard of hearing people in West Sussex.

Fact

Over exposure to loud music on a personal music system can lead to premature hearing loss.
